I should point out....

That I am pretty much working on all these works in progress at the same time but in rotation.  :-)

Bobbin Lace

I also make Bobbin Lace.  I haven't finished this yet as Ihave misplaced the book with the pattern.  This is a piece of Torchon Lace handerchief edging.

Jackie du Plessis Works in Progress

I have been plodding a way for these two pieces.  I admit I do work the most on The Secret Garden but I do have a thing for English Gardens.

Here is my progress on this piece:

A close up of the center:

And the other piece I am working on called Ebony and Ivory:

Betsy Morgan's Gathering for Winter Etui

I have made a lot of progress on this piece.  This is from a class I took at Elegant Stitch in Modesto.  Here is a pic of my progress to date:

This stitched up quickly and I am enjoying the variety of stitches.

Needlepoint Projects

I am currently working on a project called Turnberry Ridge by Jean Hilton.

Here is a photo I took of my progress.  I used an overdyed thread called Dark Shadows as my main color.

Another Work in Progress called Diamond Delights:

Betsy Morgan of Willing Hands

Just returned from 3 days of classes with Betsy Morgan at Elegant Stitch in Modesto, Calif.  The first piece we did  was the Gathering for Winter Etui.  This is an image of the finished etui plus the smalls.

I will post my finished pin cushion soon.

Old World Book with Lisa Renner

Took a class a LONG time ago with Lisa Renner.

This is the front cover:

Interior of book done with adirondack sprays, beeswax, and crayons.  Watercolor paper was folded into signatures and then painted.  Some pages were wet on wet others not.  It was a really messy class but oh so much fun.

The Back Cover:

Another Julie Nutting Class Part Deux

I took another class with Julie and this was the canvas we did.

Witchie Poo Class with Sharon Diskin

This was done with artist grade shrink plastic and colored before shrinking.

Isn't she fabulous.  She has an honored place on my fireplace mantel.

Poppy -- another Jamie Dougherty Class

I love Jamie's classes and am currently enrolled in her online Bloom Girls class.

I am currently filling in more shading with pastels and charcoal (both white and black).

More Beadwork

I was having so much fun beading that I made this twisted peyote piece that I think would make a great pendant.

Isn't this fun?

Kathy Shepherd Bookbinding Classes

This is the first class I took called the Woven Chain Book Binding.  We made the entire book.

Here are some of the images:

The back of the book showing the binding.

Close up of the Woven Chain used to bind the book which was all done by hand.

Marion Smith Class --- Works in Progress

I took two of her classes in March of 2013.  The first class was called Life Journal and the second was called Art is in the Heart.  I am posting images for the second class.  No images from the journal as i haven't taken pictures of it yet.

The background was textured, stamped, painted, and embellished.  The items under the heart are distressed paint brushes.  Here are some close-ups of the center section with the heart.

I still have work to do on this piece and will post a pic when it is done.

Best Mr. Darcy Ever

Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy from the 5 hour BBC version of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice.

Online Swap

This was made for a swap that I was in. The background is made of fabric with beading on top.  There are single beads and clusters of beads.  The clusters consist of keishi pearls, size 11 and size 15 sead beads.  The heart consists of ironed angelina fibers which was cut out in the shape of a heart.  The heart was then stitched to the background using silk thread.  The left half of the heart was embroided with beads while on the right side I stitched another cluster as an embellishment.

Strictly ATCs

I belong to a group that meets once a month to trade Artist Trading Cards.  At these meetings we always do some kind of technique for backgrounds, etc.  For our September meeting the theme is mail.

This was a background I collaged and then put a layer of beeswax over it.

I always love an organic piece and an open canvas.

Here is the artist trading card I did for the Beneath the Sea theme.  I had fun with this but my hand was so tired after doing 10 of these.  I used inspiration from Suzanne's blog Tinkered Art Studio.

Digital Collage

I was a computer geek for over 20 years so I turned my technical skills into digital artwork using Photoshop Elements.  Here are some of the images I created.  Each collage is a compilation of many layers using different effects.

What have I been doing.....

This is a class I took called "Honor" with Jamie Lynn Dougherty of Jamie Dougherty Designs.  The background was done in acrylics with stenciling, flowers, butterflies, and gold leafing.  This is still a work in progress as I am adding some final touches using pastels and white/black (6B) charcoal to shade her face.  For her face, it was done with black and white gesso.
